French Modern Reveal, Part 3

Continuing on with our French Modern Project Reveal, today we are highlighting the office, bathrooms, laundry room and media room. When designing the office, located immediately off the entry area, the plan was to make a warm and inviting impact. We did not want the home to feel brand new, but to hold character and charm. From the roman clay walls, reclaimed beams, brass accents, to the putty-colored built-ins, the office exudes a warm, layered atmosphere. The European oak chevron floors are a subtle, yet elevated designer touch. We were able to blend the furnishing materials with leather, linen, white oak, iron, wool, and ceramics against the dark roman clay backdrop for a composed aesthetic.

There is no doubt that the show-stopper in this bathroom is the marble stone. We love how much of the natural veining can be seen on the front of the elongated, stone-top vanity. The marble is tied into the shower niche and bathtub as well. For the finishes, we mixed polished nickel and brass. There is always an opportunity to change things up when it comes to tile installation. We did this by staggering the 4x4 zellige tiles and adding a single row of horizontal tiles at the base of the tub. It is all about those details!

Moving on to the laundry room we chose a beautiful blue paint color for the cabinetry, French Toile by Benjamin Moore. Even the paint name goes along with our French Modern Project! We added dimension in here with reeded glass cabinets, white oak open shelves, glazed backsplash tiles, honed quartzite countertops, and a fun-patterned floor tile. Functionality is so important in a laundry room, so we were sure to include plenty of storage options and pull-outs in the cabinets. The accessories with little touches of blue tied in were the finishing touch this room needed!

In designing the media room, we were able to utilize two complementary paint colors on the walls and ceilings, to set a moody and cozy vibe, perfect for watching a good movie! The warm colors are carried throughout the blackout drapes, furnishings and plush, plaid carpet.

Continuing forward to the next bathroom, a thoughtful vanity with counter cabinets and two open-storage sections, serves as the focal point. We integrated matte black, brass, and walnut finishes for added layered, warmth. In the shower we added a single horizontal row of tiles in between each row of vertically stacked tiles and lined the shower edges with honed quartzite. Overall, it sets a clean, calm and inviting tone.
